Dock In Day

  • 23 Mar 2019
  • 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • GRRA Boathouse & River 291 North Park NE

We have had a lot of hard work put into maintaining and improving the boathouse and equipment this year and things have gone very well – thank you to everyone who has contributed!

As we look ahead, there is still a lot of work to do – here are the details about Dock-In Day:

  • Dock-in – we will be putting in the dock, cleaning/repairing shells & doing general seasonal prep work around the boathouse – please plan on being there and contributing!  There will be something for everyone to do – wear warm outdoor work clothes and bring your normal cheerful & helpful attitudes!  We’ll coordinate on the day-of and get as many of the tasks listed below done as we can and maybe even a few extras.
  • Putting in the dock  – get ready to do some heavy (& sometimes wet) team lifting/pulling.  Waterproof boots & gloves, and an extra pair of gloves is recommended – extra wrenches and drill & socket sets or waders are helpful too.  We also plan on having a fire for people to warm up around.
  • Shell work – we need to do thorough cleaning of the shell hulls (using our normal Simple Green cleaner & some nice clean, non-river water) and we’ll be going through and replacing or documenting any damaged parts like shoes and footstretcher tracks.
  • Organization – the work bench, upstairs and various corners of the boathouse need to be organized & tidied up. There may also be some clean up work upstairs.
  • BYOC - Please mark this date on your calendar and come with a smile . . . and your own coffee.
  • Junior Prep Day – The Junior team will be at an indoor ergatta on March 23. Coaches Kyle and Nick are asking for all Juniors to attend a Boathouse Prep Day on Wednesday, March 20. Specific instructions will be given that day. Please dress appropriately for the weather and the work to be done.
