Spring season is open to athletes in grades 8-12 of all experience levels. Workouts are focused on personal and team improvement in preparation for racing. The season will begin on land with cardio and weight training and work on the rowing machine. As soon as the weather allows, practice will move to the river.
Season: March 9 - May 28
Varsity: Monday-Thursday, 5:30 to 7:45 PM and Saturday, 10 to Noon
Novice: Monday-Thursday, 5:30 to 7:45 PM
All practices take place at the Grand Rapids Boathouse which is located at 291 North Park Street NW. (The entrance is shared with Greenleaf Landscaping.)
March 28 - Grand Rapids Spring Sprints (Forest Hills Central High School)
April 18 - GR Spring Scrimmage (Boathouse)
April 25 - Grand Rapids High School Invitational (Riverside Park)
May 2-3 - Indianapolis Junior Sprints (Indianapolis, IN)
May 9-10 - TBD; possible one-day event
May 16-17 - Midwest Junior Rowing Championship (Cincinnati, OH)
Season Dues: $365
Payment Plan Option: $182.50 due March 19, $182.50 due April 13.
You may complete the registration without making payment if you plan to try it out for the first two weeks or utilize the payment plan.
Season dues are paid to the Club and covers all coaching, regatta entry fees, equipment maintenance and transportation, insurance, and other boathouse related expenses.
Travel Fee: TBD based on travel schedule. Due mid-April.
There is an additional travel fee that covers all transportation and lodging and most food for away regattas, as well as a team shirt, and team tent supplies. This cost is coordinated by the Junior Rowing Parent Association and is typically around $200. The Parent Association also works to provide scholarship support where possible.
