Spring 2022 SeasonPractice Schedule: Monday, March 28 - Thursday, May 26, 2022 Varsity & Novice: Monday - Thursday; 5:30 - 7:30pm and Saturday, 10am - noon Dock In: March 26 - 9am - 1pm *water practices the week of March 28, weather permitting. No mandatory practices the week of April 2 - 9 (Spring Break) Scrimmages/Regattas: Saturday, April 16: GR hosting a local scrimmage Saturday, May 14: GR hosting a local scrimmage *additional scrimmages and/or regattas to be arranged by coaching staff. Cost: $350 Cost includes coaching, 9 weeks of training, full use of equipment from GRRC, a team t-shirt, and limited regatta seat fees. Travel/lodging/food fees are in addition to this and will be arranged by our Junior Parent Booster Group. Winter 2022 Season
The modified training plan includes a variety of workouts, including erging, stretching, cardio
and core, yoga, and general fitness. As the weather allows, outdoor team workout sessions may
be scheduled. There will also be a weekly team Zoom meeting to review the training plan, goals,
technique, etc. and a virtual goal board and tracking system will be utilized.
Practice Schedule: January 17 - February 26 Workout times determined by coaching staff. February 28 - March 26 (Dock In) Workout times determined by coaching staff.
Regattas/Events: TBD: Your coaches will discuss competition opportunities with the team during the first 2 weeks of practice. Cost: (tentative, pending a January 13 meeting) $75 for training program-coaching costs $125 for 10-week erg rental Erg Pick Up from Boathouse: Monday, January 17, 5pm Cost includes training program, coaching and equipment transportation. Any regatta travel, uniforms, and food costs are additional. The Parent Association works to coordinate those items and associated costs. Registration: Registration is available at the link below. Register | About Junior RowingGrand Rapids Junior Rowing is the Grand Rapids Rowing Club's youth program and is open to 8th - 12th grade girls and boys in the Grand Rapids area. Junior rowing develops self-confidence, promotes physical fitness, and builds teamwork. Our team practices at the same time and travels together, but is split into two levels for training and racing, based on experience: The novice squad is for athletes in their first year of rowing (including those who are new to the sport). The novice program focuses on developing rowing skills and preparing for races against other novice crews at local and regional regattas. The varsity squad is for athletes with a year or more of experience and is a focused on training for local, regional, and, occasionally, national level regattas.
